Marriage in t-minus 4 days.
I am leaving tomorrow to go to Wausau for the wedding. I will be back in roughly a week and a half, so expect updates to start on that Monday sometime. Take care.

Careful what you type
The topic of this post comes courtesy of the Nug. He mentioned reading an article the other day that had gotten a whole bunch of people into some hot water over some hidden data that had been left embedded in a MS document. Basically, user information, previous versions of sentences and drafts of the document are all saved on most people's Word documents. It turns out it is pretty easy to cull the previous info from the document you receive. Find out some more info here. So, what to do? Send out all of your files in pdf form. It prints better anyway.
Also, the intermittent updating will occur for about two more weeks as we approach Jess and my wedding day. Then it will be back to pretty much normal. Oh, and start working on a track list, because the swap-o-mania was so successful that I am going to run another one this September baby!

What a freaking great idea I just had.
Wait... it's true this time. So, over at diddly.com, they have this google api that looks up random pictures that people took with their digital cameras and displays them. How? It just looks for common default picture names for a bunch of given types of cameras. Since I like fotolog so much, I decided to start doing a log of these random pictures. Hopefully it works out ok. If you want to contribute, contact me for login info.

Check out this forum
There are very, very few forums that I actually participate in on a regular basis. And by few I mean two. One is the Daily Ramblings Irish Pub, run by one of my best friends Paul. (Private to PCR: Just play along, ok? I really don't have that many friends.) The other is the movielens site, a movie discussion board that I am participating in as part of a research group. I hope to bump up the overall level of statistical snarkiness in the study.
Back to my point - sign up an participate in Paul's forum. You can pretty much get in on the gound floor since there are only about eight people that ever post there. Plus, it has a beer theme. And I told you to go there.

More work = less blogging
The wedding date coming ever closer plus a bunch of conferences drawing near add up to me not being able to update this site on a daily basis for the next couple of weeks. I will try to post some stuff up intermittently, but bear with me until I get some more time.

My school rules
Who would have thought something worthwhile would have actually come out of the UW-Madison business school? Well, kind of worthwhile. Apparently, they have some crazy professors over on that end of campus.
I'm trying to come up with an alternative to "bling".
I was thinking of gleam. It incorporates the shinyness of bling, but doesn't carry with it the implication of a sound being made. Thus, allowing it to be used in a multitude of different situations. And you can drawl it out like "glee-yam". Here's an example: "Yo. Check the glee-yam on that biz-nass. Word."
I wouldn't really read too much into this.
But if you do, let me know what you learned, because the only information I can gleam from this is that there is no way that the T is only 43 years old. Though I did think the old school table layout was pretty swass. I think I am going to go outside now and compare myself to a tree. Probably one not so big, as I don't want to lose my first "me vs. tree" battle, but also one not so small that it is as if I am intentionally choosing a competitor unfairly.

In the company of other karaoke losers
Apparently, getting thrashed and swaggering into you favorite karaoke watering hole to lay down some GnR isn't enough for people anymore. Thus, dare to sing, the clearing house for home recorded amateur singing. Now with extra ratings!
Crap art indeed
Finally, an art site/project that caters to what I enjoy most... meaningless crap. The idea behind this one is that you write, record and edit an entire full length record in 24 hours or less. All original material, and preferebly, all done without sleeping. I can't say the results thus far have been spectacular, but they have been something... which is more than I can put forward at this time.

Heading out of town for the weekend
Haven't had much time to update the old blog the last couple of days, but I promise I have a bunch of stuff I need to post when I get back. In fact, I would like to dedicate next weeks post to Bruce Valanche. So if you have a good Bruce story, send it in and I will be sure to post it.

Thunderball USA!
I sure miss sitting out on the porch listening to Thunderball games. Nothing like the crack of the gun to let you know that the circle has been violated. I mean, come on, how easy is it to simply leave the gun in the gun circle. Answer: pretty easy.
