So, I went garage saling today. For two reasons: 1. to try to find an old turntable and/or some slick records and 2. to finally discern what all the hype about garage sales is really about.
After spending all morning testing my hypothesis (of course, only when no one was looking), I came to two three conclusions:
1. 99.2% of what you find at garage sales is crap.
2. Going to garage sales by yourself is boring.
3. I like making lists.
That being said, I did find that a dime will buy you pretty much anything you want if you show up on the last day of the sale. Fifty cent book? Wave that dime in front of her face and it's all yours. Two dollar record? "10 cents or I'm walking away." Works every time. And by every time, I mean once. But it is the Blues Brother's Soundtrack, and in pretty good condition too. Though, between that and a Robert Lewis Stevenson book, I really didn't have too much luck. Oh well, there's always next weekend.
